Manufacturing illegal drugs and drug trafficking are extremely serious charges. If you are facing charges of this kind, you need to fight back aggressively, and it is critical that you work with a legal team you can trust to give you the best chance possible of getting out from under these charges.
At McKay Law Firm, PLLC Attorneys At Law, we focus all of our attention on helping clients like you fight against drug charges like trafficking and manufacturing. We have a wealth of experience handling serious drug crime charges, including felonies and misdemeanors, in Little Rock and throughout the surrounding areas of Arkansas.
Drug trafficking is not defined by whether or not distribution is involved; it is defined by weight. When a defendant possesses a certain minimum weight of a drug, the charge is trafficking. The weights are:
- For meth, cocaine, LSD, peyote, mescaline and related drugs, 200 grams minimum
- For anabolic steroids, certain strong depressants and stimulants, codeine and other related controlled substances, 400 grams minimum
- For certain prescription depressants and stimulants, viagra, ephedrine, codeine and related controlled substances, minimum of 800 grams
- For marijuana or other related controlled substances, minimum of 500 pounds
Trafficking is a serious felony charge, resulting in a prison term of 10 years to 40 years on conviction.
It is important to note that manufacturing is a distinct charge from trafficking. Whereas trafficking simply involves possessing a certain amount of an illegal drug, regardless of whether or not you manufactured it, manufacturing charges are simply charges for making or growing an illegal drug. Like trafficking, the charges vary according to type of drug and weight manufactured, but manufacturing charges include quantities far less than what is required for a trafficking charge.
If you have been charged with trafficking or manufacturing, our lawyers will fight for you.
